Anti social behaviour

Dec 3, 2020 | Council News

Thank you to all the people in our community who helped clear up the streets after last night’s disturbance.

The Parish Council is aware of the recent anti-social behaviour in the village.  The Clerk and Councillors have been in contact with the police.  Plymouth City Bus has also been contacted as it is believed most of those involved left the village on the last bus.

Not only is it very upsetting that people are being intimidated by groups of young people causing such disruption, but this sort of behaviour has an impact on the Council’s funds.  We would far rather spend Council funds, most of which come from your council tax payments, on worthwhile community projects than on the ‘additional’ costs of street clearance and repairs to or replacement of damaged Council owned assets.

Please, if you witness criminal behaviour, dial 999 immediately. If you discover damage or vandalism and wish to report something after the event, you can use the Devon & Cornwall Police online reporting form https://services.devon-cornwall.police.uk/crimereporting/. The more reports the police receive, the more resources they will allocate to dealing with the issue.

We would like to thank our cleaner who was on hand last night and agreed to do some additional hours to check the condition of our streets and also the young people, not involved in the disturbance, who had already done most of the clearing up before the cleaner arrived.
