It has been an absolute joy to watch the community come together for the redevelopment of the skatepark in Millbrook. The new park is fit for the future and there is a real sense of ownership by the village of it. Well done to the crew who were inspiring and dedicated – it has been a privilege to be a part of it.
The whole skatepark project was an incredible effort by the village and all those involved.
What has been produced is a top quality facility that is being used by a wide cross section of people in the community.
Skateboarders young and old, male and female are using it daily and really loving the interesting design, and quality build/finish.
With the park over a year old now, and as skateboarder myself, I can honestly say it is still great fun, and challenging, and is still in excellent condition, showing no signs of wear. We have been using it many times a week, and have met and made new friends there regularly.
The addition of the paths, tasteful seating and solar lights has very much added to the enjoyment that we can all have there.
Thanks once again to those that have contributed and put in so much effort to get this great thing for the village.
Being involved in the BMX/skate scene in the area for over 25 years, this project has been an incredible achievement to be part of, and it keeps getting better!
The community really pulled together to make this happen in record time, the skatepark completed over a year ago now and unless it is torrential rain it has been used daily by all generations.
Young children taking their first pushes, teenagers pushing their limits. adults getting padded up and either reliving their youth or learning a new hobbie and spectators of all ages watching in amazement and cheering others on!
With a big opening event, another fun jam and a trip to the Southwests largest a skatepark at Christmas it has been brilliant to see so many come together and showcase their talent, learn new skills, make new friendships.
The progression levels are huge and big smiles even bigger.
With the addition of solar lighting the park can be used after school & work throughout the year and enable users to get regular exercise and socialise in the darker months which will be great.
Special thanks to the parish council for fully supporting the project.
It takes a village,
Geddon Millbrook.
Millbrook Skate Park project has meant so much to the community.
It facilitated a large group of people coming together, to create a wonderful modern space for gatherings, physical activity and mindfulness.
As a small business on the Peninsula, we raised money and made a wonderful celebratory cake at the end of the project.
On a very personal note, I often visit the Skate Park with my 2.5 year old Grandson, we love the space and the surrounding parkland, our 4 legged friends also enjoy the space .
My business CornishPod, much to my delight, has its name on the side panel of the park, this was a lovely touch and something I am very proud of.
Well done to everyone involved. It is brilliant.
It’s great to see the skatepark being used by a wide variety of people – families, all sorts of age groups, male and female. It seems to have become a real hub in the community and a great asset for the village. Without doubt it would have added to an increase in physical activities of many people in the area. I’m sure there’ll be events coming in the future that can widen the usage of the skatepark.
My family have very much enjoyed using the new skatepark. It is a great outdoor space that has been thoughtfully designed to fit into the area and offers another activity for them to enjoy with friends, or alone.
It would be nice to see more organised events utilising the space and particularly for the younger generations to teach them how to use the space safely and help them to gain skills. This age bracket is often overlooked so finding a way to integrate them in the future would be a great next step.
