I really don’t think the wig wag lighting goes far enough. I can’t see how it will slow traffic sufficiently, and as it stands few drivers appear to obey the 20mph speed limit. This is a major cause of blocked road in the ‘narrows’ and Hounster, as drivers prefer to pile in behind the first to go through rather than waiting to look if there’s already traffic coming through.
I don’t fully understand why traffic lights wouldn’t work, so hopefully you can explain.
One way system might also be preferable, and a ban on larger lorries. I lived in the narrows, where both Dodbrook House and the now Bar Tusker were damaged several times over the 8 yrs I lived there. Once a CCC black pavement post was uprooted by a truck that couldn’t negotiate the turn. So it’s not just volume but the ridiculous size of vehicles coming through that cause queues, and general mayhem. I sincerely hope that the wig wag lighting will be very thoroughly considered, as the cheapest option is not necessarily the right one.
