Local Covid Restriction Tiers

On 2nd December 2020, The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020 came into force.

As detailed on the explanatory memorandum, the instrument enabled a number of public health measures to be taken to reduce the public health risks posed by the spread in England of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARA-Cov-2) which causes the disease Covid-19.

On 21st December Tier 4 was introduced.   In accordance with section 45R of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984, the Secretary opinion that, by reason of urgency, it is necessary to make this instrument without a draft having been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament.  See Statutory Instrument 2020 No. 1611

On 26th December 2020 Cornwall moved from tier 1 to tier 2.
