The electoral register, also known as the electoral roll, is a list of everyone who is entitled to vote.
You must be on the register to be able to vote at an election.
Anyone who has never registered, or has recently moved, must have registered by Monday 19 April 2021.
To register to vote, you must be:
- a UK or Irish citizen
- a qualifying Commonwealth citizen living in the UK
- an EU citizen living in the UK
- a qualifying foreign citizen in Wales or Scotland
- In England you must be 16 years and older
To update your details and to check if you can register to vote follow the links on the The Electoral Commission website.
You must re-register if you have changed address, name or nationality.
If you are already registered you do not need to apply again unless your circumstances have recently changed.
