Thank you to everyone involved in the preparation, set up and delivery of Millbrook Christmas Light Switch On and arranging for letters from Santa to be sent to the children.
This year, in addition to the fabulous Millbrook Primary School choir, we were fortunate to have the last minute confirmation of The Brass Quintet from HM Royal Marines Band.
Our Christmas Light Switch On was opened by Lieutenant General Ivan Hooper CB. Our Town Crier produced read a Christmas Cry. Thank
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes which includes;
- involving the local schools to make Christmas decorations
- picking (going to the nursery) and arranging delivery of the Christmas tree
- putting the Christmas tree and Christmas lights up in the Tanyard
- setting up Santa’s grotto.
- working with Santa’s elves to arrange letters from Santa
- after the festive period – taking everything down and storing the decorations etc.
All the above would not be possible without the dedication of our Christmas and Events Working group which is Chaired by Cllr Fran Reilly (members of the group working on this years’ event and the lead up to it include Cllr Sharon Lewis, Cllr Fiona McBain, Cllr Julie Elworthy, Cllr Wood and Kirstie Bristow. Thank you also to our dedicated caretaking staff, Pete and James.
We are very grateful to our local businesses who donated raffle prizes and Kirstie Bristow who collected the prizes. £45 was raised which will be donated to Rame Responders. Thanks also to Lady Megan for drawing the raffle prizes for us.

At the end of the Switch On event we had an offer of someone volunteering to be an elf for next years event.
Would you like to get involved in next years event?
Would you like to see additional lights / decorations or activities leading up to Christmas? If so, this can only happen with more dedicated volunteer support.
